Amagarh Leopard Reserve
Introduction
Amagarh Leopard Reserve lies in the eastern part of Jaipur. The total area of the forest blocks is 16.36 sq. km. The southern part of Amagarh is separated from Jhalana Leopard Reserve by the National Highway connecting Jaipur to Agra, while the link from Nahargarh Sanctuary is broken by the National Highway connecting Jaipur to Delhi. Being situated between Jhalana and Nahargarh sanctuary, Amagarh becomes a very vital corridor for dispersal of a variety of fauna, including leopards.
Amagarh is nestled in the Aravali hill ranges that run from the north to the south. The hillocks, valleys, dunes and the ravines are home to a variety of flora and fauna and offer breathtaking views of landscape and geological formations.
Conservation works undertaken at Amagarh will ensure leopard conservation as well as migration to and from Jhalana to Sariska Tiger reserve and thus ensure genetic exchange between different populations of leopard as well as other fauna.
Following are the number of species that have been recorded at Amagarh.
